During the winter months, it’s important to remember the following tips to avoid freezing pipes:
DO NOT DRIP FAUCETS in freezing temperatures.
Do the following instead:
- Close crawl space vents.
- Wrap outside bibs and any exposed lines or use heat tape to prevent freezing.
If you discover a leak from freezing pipes that may have thawed and burst, please call the Utilities Department immediately, 803-684-2341, so that operators can come shut off your water until repairs have been made. Please do not attempt to shut off at the meter as this could cause damage to the valves and meter.
